Durrrr changes location but still gets hammered by Isildur1

Freshly installed in Vegas and ready to start playing in the sixth season of ‘High Stake Poker’, durrrr could not resist looking up Isildur1 to try to recuperate some of the losses that he had incurred over the last few days. The plan had one glitch, though, and it was that Isildur1 had no plans giving anything back. The whole affair was quite one sided and after just over three hours and 2142 hands, Isildur1 had busted his opponent at four tables and won another $705K. However, it doesn’t seem like durrrr has had enough yet, as he wowed to be back after he had finished playing in the TV show. Stay tuned....

Durrrr turns top pair and the nut flush draw, but Isildur1 flopped trips and takes a $343K pot.

durrrr flops top pair with top kicker, but it is not enough to take down Isildur1’s kings. $273K pot.

Both players flop top pair, but Isildur1 out-kicks durrrr and wins a $253K pot.

Same story as the previous hand. $252K pot.

It must be said that durrrr was the victim of some real coolers in this session, and the ones I show here are not the only ones. I would claim that durrrr has no way of getting away from any of these hands, so before we bury him, we should acknowledge that fact. However there were other pots where he could have chosen a different path.

Durrrr moves in with middle pair against Isildur1’s top pair and gets no help. $274K pot.

On this hand, durr makes the continuation bet and has to decide what to do when he faces Isildur1’s raise on the flop. Without a doubt, his opponent is perfectly able to make a bluff in that spot, so there is certainly fold equity in moving in like durrrr does, particularly when we consider he made a 3 bet before the flop and Isildur1 will have every reason to expect that he is up against a decent ace here. Following the match live though, I can’t help but feel that Isildur1 is really working hard to create these situations where durrrr can put in a ton of chips in these situations only to be picked off time after time. So even if durrrr’s play in isolation can be defended in terms of his opponents range and all that stuff, it is quite likely that Isildur1 is letting durrrr hang himself in these situations.

Durrrr finds the time right to move in with A9 preflop, but again he is dominated and loses a $224K pot.

This was one of the last hands of the session. Durrrr had busted at two tables, and he was on the defensive on the two last tables as well. Of course, he could very well have made Isildur1 lay down his hand by moving in like he did, but the play reeked of tilt and Isildur1 insta-called. And when you run bad, you get no help in these spots, so it was another table bust for durrrr.

And just to illustrate that this was really not durrrr’s day, I present this hand where he loses a flip the hard way on the river:

Isildur1 and durrrr races and Isildur1 hits the nut straight on the river to win a $220K pot.

What should durrrr do now? I know what he is going to do, as he has already announced that he is coming back to play Isildur1 some more. The question is just whether it is the right move by him. Granted, I am sure that Isildur1’s expected value vs durrrr is not a million dollars each day, but it is clear that Isildur1 is a very good player, maybe even better than durrrr is. And in poker, it is really difficult to stop a steam roller once it gets going. Anyway, it will certainly make for some entertaining poker, and maybe there will be a reversal in durrrr’s fortunes some time soon.
