It has truly been a spectacular year of online poker for Patrik Antonius. At the end of the new year, he had won close to nine million dollars, and was the proud winner of the largest pot ever played. In a sense, the only thing that didn’t go his way in 2009 was the durrrr challenge where he is down $937K after almost 30K of the 50K hands they are scheduled to play.

Looking at Antonius graph, you will find that he came out strong, and then basically was winning steadily throughout the year. Of course, he had his downswings like everyone else, but compare him to the three others we have done summaries for Isildur1, durrrr and Gus Hansen and you will see that Antonius results have been much steadier.
Antonius peaked at just over $10M on November 22nd which was followed by a horrible week in which he lost close to $4.5M before he re-gained momentum and won $3.5M to end the year very close to the $9M mark.

When we look at Antonius’ splits, it is not difficult to see where the majority of his winnings come from. Pot Limit Omaha has clearly been his strongest game, something that he has also stated repeatedly in several interviews. He says that he feels that he is superior to all players he takes on in this game, and judging by the results, it is difficult to argue with him.
Antonius and Isildur1 both turns top two pairs, but Antonius makes a straight on the river to win a $879K pot.
We already reported on the largest pot ever in the report about Isildur1, so we will look at the second largest pot that Antonius won in 2009.
In this hand, both players had top two pairs with re-draws, so both of them felt they had more than enough reason to get their chips in the middle. There was about a 2-1 chance that the pot would be split, but Antonius and about twice as many winners as Isildur1. This time, Antonius was the one who drew the long straw and a small fortune was shipped his way.
Antonius flops the ace high flush to win a $581K pot from durrrr.
This was Antonius' largest NLHE pot of the year, and unfortunately we are not shown durrrr’s hand here. Obviously, Antonius was very happy with the flop here, but I am sure he was pleasantly surprised that he was able to get paid off all the way. When the hand appeared in the middle of September, I made a short comment on it, which can be read here.
