This just in – Patrik Antonius is not destined to lose every time he sits down at the tables in 2010. And yes, it is two weeks left to April 1st. Stepping down in limits and mostly playing the $200/$400 PLO Cap game, he had a few hands go his way and was able to pocket $150K in a relatively short session of 151 hands. He is still in a major hole for 2010, but there is still a lot of time to make up lost ground.
Antonius flops a flush to win a $61K pot from Oppenheim.
Antonius played a few hands of PLO $300/$600 in the seven game, and this pot was the largest he won yesterday. It doesn’t warrant too much in the way of comments since both players have very strong hands and were well justified in basically being all in before the flop. I will say this, however, that I can’t understand why Oppenheim saved the last $3644 until he saw the flop. The flop was basically as bad as it could possibly be for him, so he was clearly committed to sticking it in, and might just as well have done so preflop. Maybe he just misclicked.
Oppenheim’s two pairs fades durrrr’s straight draw. $97K pot.
Oppenheim did have the pleasure of winning the largest pot of the day, and the hand did have a nice point to it. Oppenheim flopped top and bottom pair which is a nice, but vulnerable hand when playing heads-up PLO and particularly in a board like this that contains an obvious straight draw. Therefore ot makes a ton of sense to play like Oppenheim did here and wait until the turn to commit your chips. The five of spades is as good a card as you can hope for, so now is the time to stick the chips in. durrrr was obviously pot committed at that point, but being a 4-1 underdog was too much for him to overcome.
