It seems that geoff7878 has found his niche in the cap games because over the last two days he has been the undisputed master of these games, winning more than $370K in this period. It is also worth noting that Isildur1 made a short appearance, playing 323 hands of PLO $50/$100 with rezzydezzy1 and dropping a little more than $40K. Not a result that will have him back terrorizing the highest stakes any time soon.
cityboy8 flops top set, but luvtheWNBA hits runner runner kings for a better full house. $55K pot.
Since the cap pots aren’t all that interesting from a pure play perspective, I’ll post the two largest pots of the day that took place in the HU match between cityboy8 and luvtheWNBA. The game was $100/4200 NLHE and even though the final result (see below) don’t reflect it, there were some quite big swings during the 420 hands they played.
The hand above went from being a cooler to being a very lucky hand for luvtheWNBA. If not for the king on the river, it would have been a cooler because his play up to that point was very reasonable and if he had lost the hand, he would have every right to feel he got unlucky to hit two pairs when his opponent flopped a set.
For cityboy8 on the other hand, the hand must have felt very painful. He was better than a 49-1 favorite after the flop, and even after the turn he was 19-1 so in spots like this it’s hard to look at the bright side and tell yourself that you played the hand well. On the other hand, things like this DO even out in the long run, and maybe this hand was just payback for the hand below that took place 20 minutes earlier.
Cityboy8 shoves preflop with ATs and sucks out on luvtheWNBA’s queens to win a $54K pot.
Obviously, this suckout is not as bad as the previous in terms of percentages, but it probably felt pretty bad for luvtheWNBA anyway. I am not really in a position to criticize cityboy8’s shove before the flop on this hand. To do that, we would need to see the history between these players and have an idea about luvtheWNBA 4-bet range before the flop. It is the kind of play that looks very bad when your opponent calls and has you dominated, but cityboy8 still had 33% equity when the cards were flipped over and probably significant fold equity as well. It might be a marginal play, but I don’t think it is a bad one.
