Gus Hansen has a nice 7-game session

After striking out in the $500/$1000 PLO game the other day, Gus Hansen returned to the seven game yesterday and had a lot more success there. There is a perception that he has a lot more value in those games, and it might be the truth, but it was interesting to see that he won $126K in the PLO $300/$600 part and thus was a $10K loser the rest of the way. Obviously, the PLO game has a lot more variance, so it is by no means a trend, but it could be interesting to pay attention to in the future.

Hansen flops middle set and fades Ivey’s bottom set and flush draw. $86K pot.

durrrr turns a straight and rivers a full house to win a $98K pot.

Quite an interesting hand this, and one in which I think that David Oppenheim unneccesarily cost himself a bunch of money. The call he makes on the flop is very dubious in my opinion. He is getting 3-1 on the call, but his equity on the flop is only about 7-1 in this case, and it is not as though he is very unlucky that his opponents has flopped monsters. Granted, he can’t know that his gutshot draw is no good, but those are the risks you take when you are drawing to less than the nuts.

The five of clubs must obviously have looked like the second best card in the deck for Oppenheim (the five of spades being the best), so at that point there was no way that he was not going to get the rest of his money in. Unfortunately for him, that card gave durrrr a higher straight, and the two pairs that durrrr held meant that not all of Oppenheim’s flush draws were live either. The deuce of clubs on the river was proof of this so the flush on the river didn’t do Oppenheim any good at all.

theASHMAN103 flops the nut straight against Hansen’s two pairs. $100K pot.

Hansen bluffs off his whole stack against theASHMAN103’s set. $64K pot
