Antonius’ comeback takes a $246K detour

As most of our readers are aware, Patrik Antonius has had a lot of problems at the tables so far in 2010. However, the start of April has been a bright spot for him, but by losing $146K in the seven game and another $100K playing $200/$400 PLO, he lost a big chunk of the profits he had made so far this month. We will have to see if this is the start of a new, long downswing for him or if it is just a minor bump in the road, but losing that much in only 300 hands is certainly an ominous sign.

In other news, Phil Ivey managed to won $21K by playing one, yes one hand of $300/$600 PLO. Must be nice. Isildur1 on the other hand played 7 hands in the $200/$400 PLO cap game, and lost two all-in’s before he called it quits.

Luckychewy is all in with fours against buck99’s tens, but gets a lucky turn to scoop an $80K pot.

I am not quite sure what to make of this hand. Unless the players agreed to flip for $80K, the preflop betting makes little sense. Buck99’s raise to 36 times the big blind with tens heads up does not seem like the right way to get value from the hand. Of course, on this particular hand, he managed to get his opponent to stick all his money in with a far inferior hand, so perhaps I have no clue what I am talking about.

Luckychewy’s shove preflop seems even stranger. He knows that he is bound to get called, so he needs 49,5% equity for this move to be correct. I ran the scenario in Pokerstove giving buck99 a range of the top 12% hands plus a few random hands, and against this range the equity of luckychewy’s hand is 44.5%. It might not sound like such a serious mistake, but on this hand it means that luckychewy will lose on average 4 000 dollars in this spot. That can really be considered a big leak. Of course, on this hand he got lucky, but that doesn’t make his play any better.

Luckychewy takes a real cooler flopping three of a kind against a full house. 61K pot

Ivey sucks out on the river to win a $41K pot in his only hand of the day.

Antonius dominates Hansen preflop, but the river gives Hansen a $49K pot.

theASHMAN103 turns two pairs and takes a $52K pot,
