theASHMAN103 wins $214K in just 225 hands

It was theASHMAN103’s turn to climb to the top of the leader board yesterday, and he didn’t need a lot of time to achieve the result. Winning almost $1000 dollars per hand is very impressive, particularly considering that more than half of the winnings came in the $200/$400 PLO Cap game. Phil Ivey also had a nice day with a $140K win, and he put in a, for him, very long session of 1354 hands in the seven game.

theASHMAN103 makes a brave call on the river to pick off Antonius’ river shove. $89K pot

Patrik Antonius did his best to scare the ASHMAN103 off his hand here, and after the ace fell on the river, it took a lot of courage to call the pot sized bet. Of course, he couldn’t be sure that his hand was good on the flop and the turn, but folding top pair with a good kicker was probably never an option at that point. The ace on the river looks like a scary card, obviously, but theASHMAN103 also knows that it is a great card for Antonius to try one last bluff with.  So if theASHMAN103 feels that there is a one in three chance that Antonius is bluffing, he has to call here. And with an opponent whose range contains far more bluffs than value bets it seems like a sensible decision.

Cole South wins a $170K coinflip against Gus Hansen.

This was the largest pot of the day and like a couple of days ago Gus Hansen gets all is chips in with a small pair against overcards. This time around he tried to represent that he slowplayed a strong hand to induce a squeeze from Cole South, but South felt that his AQ was too strong to fold in this spot. South needs 44.29% equity against Hansen’s range for this to be correct, and since I can’t really say what Hansens range is in this situation I can tell you that a range of all the pocket pairs, AJs+, KQs and AJo+ gives AQ off 44.77% equity. Considering that Hansen moved in with pocket fives, this range doesn’t seem too farfetched.

Jungleman12 rivers a straight to win a $101K pot.

UarePileus flops top pair and gets Ziigmund to pay him off with a weak kicker. $99K pot.

Hansen 4-bet shoves preflop with KQs, but is dominated when UarePileus calls. $99K pot.

Antonius turns two pairs to win a $95K pot from Ivey.
