It is not often that we see players win $300K+ playing at the $100/$200 level, but yesterday the Swede Odonkor1 aka Joel Nordqvist managed this feat. Nordqvist has been very successful at the biggest games on iPoker but over the last couple of months it seems that he has decided to play try his luck at Full Tilt. Up until yesterday, he was down about $150K for the year, but then took on luvtheWNBA and URnotINdange and won just over $150K from each of them. So, it would seem that he has the skills necessary to succeed at this level, but it remains to be seen if he can keep this up.
Odonkor1 turns the nut straight to win a $69K pot.
When you play 1700 hands and win on average a big blind per hand, you are bound to have gotten a few breaks here and there. On this hand, it was quite natural for Odonkor1 to make a continuation bet when he flops the open ended straight draw, and also to try to take the pot down by shoving after he was raised. Sometimes you just have to hope that the card gods bail you out.
