Antonius leads the way

Antonius had another nice April session yesterday. The action, however was far less than we have been used to seeing lately. It seems like a lot of the players have gathered in Monte Carlo for the EPT finals and are probably playing the tournaments and enjoying the nightlife rather than spending hours upon hours in front of the computer. Antonius got away with $85K in just 40 hands and there were only four players who played more than a hundred hands. Hopefully there will be more action as more and more players get knocked out in Monaco.

Antonius’ top two pairs hold up against KipsterDK’s top pair and flush draw. $60K pot

It is not often you see players at this level limp in from the button, but it might be a good strategy from time to time when one of the players are playing as short as KipsterDK is doing here. This way there is a chance that you can put your positional advantage to good use instead of just getting all the chips in on the flop.

When Antonius flops top two pairs you would think that he would raise his opponents continuation bet, but the cold call is consistent with his line on the flop. He gets a chance to see another card before he commits to an all-in situation. Giving away free cards here is not very dangerous because KipsterDK would not be going anywhere with a decent draw. In addition, it is possible that KipsterDK could fire a second bullet on air if he thinks that Antonius has shown weakness the way he has played the hand.

When the blank hits the turn, the time for caution has passed. If Antonius’ is beat at this point there is nothing that can be done about that, but with hi powerful hand he has no choice but to get his chips in. At this point, KipsterDK is pot committed, so he has to go all-in and hope for the best. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t overcome the 3-1 odds and had to see his chips head  over to Antonius’ side of the table.

KipsterDK flops top two pairs and beats DjAdi’s bottom two. $102K

Gus Hansen wins a coinflip in a hand that was virtually all in before the flop. $77K pot

Antonius’ top two dominates and wins him a $59K pot
