If you are playing the Cap game with the intent of lowering your variance, don’t look now. Gus Hansen was able to beat Cole South out of a whopping $812K in just under 1700 hands yesterday, and even though he gave back almost $200K in the seven game, the result for the day must have been very satisfying.
This result puts Hansen at over $750K for the year, and seeing how he is among the most active players it might be time to give him a bit more credit than what he has been given over the last few years. Granted, last night’s win came after an amazing run of cards, but he’s had periods this year when things have gone against him as well.
Hansen wins coinflip against Cole South. $89K pot.
It was not only in the cap games that Hansen outran Cole South yesterday. This hand is from the hold’em part of the seven game and the preflop betting is quite interesting. Some might say that the huge all-in move from Hansen is a bit excessive with AQ, but then again, so is calling said raise with 88. It is difficult to say who is making the best play here, but it seems to me that Cole South’s call is more of a reach than Hansen’s shove. Obviously there is history here that I am not able to take in considerations, so my comments here are made on general grounds.
Jungleman12 flops the nut straight and fades Hansen’s flush draw twice.
Cole South’s second best flush draw costs him his stack. $90K pot.
luvtheWNBA flops a full house and gets his opponent to pay him off. $62K pot.
