Over the last couple days several of the most well known regulars have taken some time off from the tournaments at the Rio to spend some time in front of their computers and the high stakes games that can be found on the internet. In the middle of all the action was Ziigmund who first lost $217K to durrrr in a $500/$1000 PLO match, but managed to recuperate all of that and more against Cole South. That match went for 332 hands of $200/$400 PLO and in the end Ziigmund had won close to $253K.
Durrrr flops a flush and gets paid off. $199K pot
I am not sure, but I wouldn’t mind guessing that durrrr and Ziigmund was playing their mandatory 3-bet in this session. For those of you are not familiar with this concept, the button makes a 3 x BB raise and the big blind makes a 9 x BB 3-bet and then you start playing the hand from there. On this particular hand it is a bit difficult to tell, because it is quite possible that the action would have gone the same way even if they hadn’t agreed to play this way.
When the flop comes all diamonds and durr leads into him, Ziigmund has a difficult decision to make. He is getting a little worse than 2-1 on a shove in this spot, and if durrrr has flopped a flush, Ziigmund is going to be about a 4-1 underdog. In addition to this, durrrr could possibly hold other hands that can have Ziigmund in bad shape. I must say that I am not loving the decision Ziigmund makes here, but there might be some history that we can’t see. On this particular hand at least, it turned out be a miscalculation, and with two blanks on the turn and the river durrrr could rake the almost $200K pot.
Durrrr flops bottom pair and dominates Ziigmund for a $198K pot.
Not going to analyze this hand much, but when was the last time you saw someone flopping a naked bottom pair in PLO and finding himself with 92.3% equity in the showdown. . Pretty amazing stuff, and that in a $198K pot to boot.
