URnotINdanger2 and durrrr had a very interesting duel last night with quite a few big pots and lots of chips changing hands. And in the end, after 816 hands, it was URnotINdanger2 who was the winner with a very nice $414K win. It should be said that this was not a heads up match, but durrrr’s loss was almost equal to that of URnotINdanger2’s win.
URnotINdanger2 and Ingenious89 shares a $236K pot
It is not often you get sucked out on by two different players in the same hand and you still get rewarded with the largest part of the pot, but this is basically what happened with URnotINdanger2 on this hand. He flopped the nuts , but was overtaken by Esvedra’s straight on the turn and Ingenious89’s flush on the river. Of course, the flush on the river didn’t change anything for URnotINdanger2, but it cost Esvedra about $77K. The main concern for URnotINdanger2 was obviously that durrrr should not there with any of his draws, and when those were faded he got a cool $155K for his troubles.
URnotINdanger2 rivers a full house to beat durrrr’s straight. $149K pot
Though durrrr did not suck out on URnotINdanger2 on the previous hand, the latter did not return the favor on this one. It seems to me, however, that URnotINdanger2 should not have gotten himself into a situation where he needed to luck out on the river to win the pot. He had the chance to shut durrrr out of the pot on the flop, but when he chose to just call he gave durrrr the chance to hit his gutshot on the turn. I am not sure why URnotINdanger2 opted for this line. He does not really have a hand that is worth slow playing, and he is not likely to fold his trips at any point here. I feel it was a mistake, but this time it didn’t cost him. In fact, it made him an extra $47K, so I guess all is well that ends well.
