The third event of the Epic Poker League’s inaugural season got underway Wednesday with a new and unique format.
The format is "NLHE Mix-Max", meaning that the players will face tables of fewer players each day, testing their abilities in a variety ways.
Before play began Wednesday, Doyle Brunson was honored with a Lifetime Membership in the Epic Poker League.
A total of 100 players paid the $20.000 rake free buy-in for this event, and Erik Seidel ended day 1 in the chip lead with 223,000 and 61 players remaining.
Seidel is looking to make his third consecutive Epic Poker League final table and he’s off to another unbelievable start.
The total prize pool for this event is $2,360,000, with 12 players cashing. Those finishing 9th-12th will receive $50,920, with a pay jump to $89,680 for 5th-8th. The top four spots feature six-figure paydays; 4th place will win $174,640, 3rd will get $306,800, and the runner-up will take home $514,480. The winner will be the proud owner of an Epic Poker League Championship Ring and a first place prize of $801,680.
Other notables still left include players like Scott Clements, Vanessa Selbst and David Williams.
