Pop star Robbie Williams, who is an avid poker player himself, has caused a stir with the launch of his new play money online poker site.
According to the official site RobbieWilliamsPoker.com, Williams' poker site is a place where “poker players and Robbie Williams fans play each other to score great prizes and create the craziest avatars! ”.
Although the main aim of the site is to offer fun games to its members, there will also be the provision for real money gambling.
The anti-gambling campaigners in the UK have have reacted negatively to Robbie Williams's new endeavour, and British MP Tessa Munt has said that Robbie should know all about addiction owing to a previous dependency on prescription drugs.
She also added these comments: "I'm outraged by this. It directly targets his fans, including children. The money he makes should go to addiction charities."
A spokesman for Robbie Poker has defended the site, saying that their main focus is not money.
