David Benyamine finishes day 1b of the EPT Madrid near the top

David Benyamine has a great start in the EPT Madrid.

The day 1b of the EPT Madrid (buy-in €5.300) finished yesterday with Spaniard Juan Navarrete out in front. The day 1b saw a massive 352 player field, raising the total field to 477 players.

The total prize pool is €2,313,450 and the winner will be taking home €545,000 this year (see the full payouts here).

As stated, Juan Navarrete ended the day 1b on top. He bagged up 173,200 chips to make him the overall chip leader coming back for day 2.

There were also many interesting names who advanced to day 2, like David Benyamine (154,500), Johnny Lodden (58,000), Jake Cody (28,000) and Melanie Weisner (19,000).

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, EPT San Remo winner Andrey Pateychuk, WSOP bracelet and WPT winner Eugene Katchalov, EPT Copenhagen winner Mickey Petersen, Madrid Grand Final winner Ivan Freitez and Victor Ramdin, on the other hand, all busted out during day 1b.

All remaining 264 players from both starting flights will come back today for day 2.
