The 43rd annual World Series of Poker officially begins today, and the first gold bracelet event (of 61) will be the $500 buy-in "Casino Employees Championship."
First tournament is limited to casino employees only, so all players who participate in the tournament are employed by the gaming industry.
The $10,000 buy-in Main Event will be slightly different this year. This time there will be three starting days instead of four, but with a third day added to the Day 2 flights. Also, the delayed November Main Event Final Table has been changed to take place between October 28th to 30th, with the finalist effectively then becoming the October Nine.
The most exciting new event this year will be of course The BIG ONE for ONE DROP, the first $1 million buy-in no limit hold’em tournament in the world. Just a while ago, already 39 players had confirmed to play the historic event that has a 48-player cap.
All the other new tournaments for the 2012 WSOP include:
- $3,000 Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha
- $5,000 Mix-Max No Limit Hold’em
- $2,500 Four-Handed No Limit Hold’em
- $1,500 Ante Only No Limit Hold’em
