Cort "thecortster" Kibler-Melby is a NLHE specialist originally from Germany but currently residing in the UK and he had a great day at the tables yesterday winning $118k to finish the day as the biggest winner. This was mostly due to running well in a short session of $200/$400 NLHE he played in although the game carried on short-handed/heads-up for a long time prior to him playing and after he left. We did see some PLO action as well including a heads-up game played at a $100/$200 deep table.
We have been used to seeing a reasonable amount of $25/$50 and $50/$100 NLHE action on PokerStars recently with the main action being at the PLO tables but yesterday was different as the 'big action' was at the NLHE tables in particular the $200/$400 deep tables. The game originally started on two tables heads-up between Macau-based player patpatman and online pro Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky. Both players sat down with $100k each (250BBs) which is surprising to see at the smaller stake tables let alone the highest stakes on the site. Sauce123 said at the beginning of the match that he could only play for an hour but ended up playing for a couple of hours although he lost $17k between the tables.
The action was heads-up until we saw mickan1984 sit down at one of the tables and we quickly saw the remaining seats fill up to make it a six-handed game. mickan1984 seemed to know patpatman quite well and they both discussed their wins/losses in the Macau game in the chat with mickan1984 saying he was stuck around HKD $5 million (USD $600k) for the day. He didn't do well online as well yesterday as he lost $80k but it was patpatman who fared the worst as he lost an overall $203k (due to PLO he played before the NL action). A big loser in the NLHE games was Suwalski who played $25/$50 and $50/$100 but lost $80k. There was however another six figure winner along with thecortster who played in the same $200/$400 ring game and that was Russian player muha84 (+$100k).
thecortster hits top two pair on the turn against mickan1984's second pair with straight and flush draws which miss the river in this $107k pot.
The game went back to heads-up/short-handed after mickan1984 left and it was patpatman against Alex "Kanu7" Millar on one of the tables, and on the other it was three-handed with Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates. Kanu7 didn't fare so well as he lost $55k but w00ki3z. managed a $10k win. The latter two players continued playing heads-up for about 30-45 minutes after patpatman left but decided to call it a day after. w00ki3z. actually ended the day with a $55k win which was primarily due to beating patpatman at $100/$200 HU PLO before he played NLHE and it was in this match where the biggest pot of the day occurred:
patpatman hits top set on the flop against w00ki3z.'s pocket aces which hold up and scoop the $152k pot.
Day's biggest winners: thecortster (+$118k), muha84 (+$100k), 10IsTheYear (+$91k)
Day's biggest losers: patpatman (-$203k), Suwalski (-$80k), mickan1984 (-$80k)
