Ben "Ben86" Tollerene has had a very up and down year - he started off constantly fighting a battle to break even, before exploding in March with a $1.3m month before slipping back and losing $1million by the end of the first week of August. This past week however has seen Ben fight back as he's won close to $800k in recent days, adding $203.6k yesterday.
Ben's unfortunate rival at the $200/$400 PLO tables was none other than 2012's leading high stakes money winner, EireAbu - believed to be Dutch Pro residing in the Emerald Isle, Jorryt van Hoof. EireAbu has done astonishing well this year without ever going above the $50/$100 stakes, earning over $3.5m up until the end of July. Just recently however he has been tempted into playing the $200/$400 PLO games which have been running pretty much non stop for the past few weeks.
EireAbu started off quite brightly against his American foe in the heads up contest but as the match progressed Ben86 took control and ended up taking almost $200k from EireAbu in the final three hours of their four hour confrontation. The match also produced the biggest hand of the day;
Cooler for EireAbu as his flopped top set is usurped on the turn by a higher set - $214k pot
and here is the second biggest pot of the match;
Ben86 is ahead on the turn but EireAbu has plenty of outs and hits one to take this $104k pot
Unfortunately for EireAbu, this wasn't the only beating he took yesterday at the higher stakes - he also lost a heads up match against Gozoboro who ended up the days second biggest winner (+$176k), also courtesy of EireAbu. The stakes were slightly lower at $100/$200 PLO but the result almost as devasting for EireAbu as he lost over $150k in this match which was played simultaneously to the Ben86 match in which he ended up losing around $200k. The bad news didn't end there for EireAbu either as he also lost significant sums in the $100/$200 and $200/$400 ring games earlier in the day. In total EireAbu lost a staggering $514.4k yesterday. It just goes to show how well he had been doing before however that he is still over $800k ahead of his nearest rival (Sauce123) on the 2012 leaderboard.
The other big winner of the day (who is also a strong six figure winner so far today) was Swiss pro Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser who made a $172k score yesterday playing in the $200/$400 ring games against the likes of EireAbu, Theo J, Ben86 and Ilari FIN. It was Ilari who was the only other six figure loser yesterday, dropping $127.2k
Overall results for Sunday:
