We've been spoiled for action of late and once again the big names were out in force as the $1k/$2k Limit games flowed freely yesterday with Isildur1 still finding his feet in the toughest games imaginable against the usual limit regs and top pros. However, it was at the $100/$200 PLO tables where the biggest and best games of the day played out. In particular a match featuring Gus "broksi" Hansen, EireAbu, MrSweets28 and Sauce123 produced a plethora of six figure pots, a big winner in EireAbu and eventually a roller coaster of a heads up encounter between Phil "MrSweets28" and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky, two of the best US online players of all time.
On the receiving end of a drubbing we saw poker legend Gus "broski" Hansen who has seen his $400k winnings from last week eroded further as he suffered a heavy defeat yesterday at the hands of his PLO rivals. Perhaps Hansen's PLO game is a little rusty after his lengthy online hiatus as he looked impatient and too eager to commit his chips and paid the price playing against some of the best PLO players in the world all at once.
EireAbu was by far and away the biggest winner when play was four handed and in just 2.5 hours he won over $380k and is now making good progress in repairing the recent damage to his bankroll. Regardless of any slump however, EireAbu still remained way ahead of the field in terms of 2012 winnings and is now back over $3.3m in profit for the year.
Here are EireAbu's two biggest pots of the day;
In what was a pretty typically rash move by broksi he shoves with top pair only and comes undone in this $134.2k pot
Sauce123 has the wrong end of the straight against EireAbu in this $116k pot
However, if you thought the action was going to dry up when Gus and EireAbu retired for the night then you would have been very, very wrong. It turns out it was only just beginning as Galfond and Sulsky continued to play heads up for another 7 or so hours.
The match looked to be heading towards a Galfond whitewash as he assumed a commanding lead in the match and built up around a $400k profit for the entire session, pretty much all at the hands of Sulsky. However, Sauce123 is renowned as one of the fiercest competitors in any heads up match and really dug deep to slash away at Galfond's lead over the last 2.5 hours of their match. Eventually Galfond walked away a $95k winner for the day with Sauce123 ending up only a $23k loser after some early wins against the likes of Isildur1 (Isildur1 incidently ended the day pretty much even after over 3000 hands played.
The heads up duel between Sauce and MrSweets also produced all the days biggest hands, here are the top two, and they both went to Sauce on his comeback trail;
MrSweets28 flops top set but is outdrawn as Sauce123 makes the nut straight on the turn and gets maximum value in this $212k pot
Both players have big draws when the money goes in but Sauce completes his straight after going in behind - $154.5k pot
Biggest winners for Friday:
Winners: EireAbu +$382.9k, MrSweets28 +$95k, VietRussian +$58.4k
