Isildur1 Hits a Rush At Last - Wins Over $500k

A long awaited rush from railbirds favourite Isildur1 last night has helped fatten his ever thinning bankroll

It's been a torrid time of late for young Viktor "Isildur1" Blom at PokerStars high stakes tables. So many times in the past few weeks we have seen the crazy Swede build a six figure sum from humble beginnings only to lose the lot and more besides in the same session. We're happy to report however that this time he has managed to hold on to a decent chunk of winnings at the end of a marathon 18.5 hour session, ending his play this afternoon showing a profit of $511.8k

Blom started the day gently at the $25/$50 PLO tables before deciding this wasn't sated his thirst for high stakes action and skipping over to the $100/$200 PLO tables where, after a shaky start he really hit his stride and started to take his opponents apart, especially patpatman who has suffered a loss in excess of $800k in the past 24 hours. With a buy in at the tables of $40k at one point Blom was sitting on three tables with well over $200k and over $100k on the other as he surged towards a huge profit.

When blom was around $800k in profit he switched to the $200/$400 tables playing against patpatman and 1Il|1Il|1il| and initially carried on as before as he surged over the $900k profit mark. Things changed pretty swiftly however as Blom found himself on the wrong end of the three biggest pots of the last 24 hours, all against 1Il|1Il|1il|. In fact, after flopping top set in the second biggest pot of the day and getting all his money in good Isildur1 was favourite to take the c.$200k pot and put himself over $1 million in profit for the session. Alas it wasn't to be. Here are those three big beats;

Isildur1 flops top set, gets barcode to commit his stack but instantly goes behind as his opponent turns the nut flush - $196.5k pot

Isildur1 looks to have flopped well with top pair and a K high flush draw but barcode's flopped set of three's ends up good for this $198k pot

Isildur1 finds his Kings outflopped by barcodes raggedy hand to take this $181k pot

Viktor's biggest pot of the day also came from these sessions;

Isildur1 can consider himself lucky to take down this $157.8k pot

Shortly after the first of these beats Isildur1 announced that he was going to leave the tables in "a couple of minutes". Of course after losing another couple of hundred thousand he shelved those plans somewhat and took a shot at the 2-7 Triple Draw tables as well as the $200/$400 PLO tables. Not exactly the best idea for someone like Viktor when he is steaming and he proceeded to lose close around $300k in these games.

At this point Blom had been playing around 18 hours and his once $900k win had dipped below $400k and looked for all the world as is he was set to blow the lot.

Happily there was a good ending for Blom this time as he clawed back a little during his final triple draw sessions and one final heads up session of $200/$400 PLO against Ilari FIN yielded a $119k win for Isildur1.

So, he may not have made a million but we're sure Viktor will sleep well after a much needed half a million dollar win.

In other news there was also a sizeable win yesterday for RaiseOnce (Phil Ivey?) who only played one table yesterday although he spent 10 hours at the FLO8 table in question, taking a huge $255.7k win in the process against the likes of GVOZDIKA55 and patpatman. RaiseOnce has now fully recovered from his near 3/4 million deficit we saw just a few weeks ago and is showing close the a 1/4 million profit for 2012 - in fact due to untracked wins at the HORSE tables he could well be significantly more up than that.

With a few hundred thousand K in his back pocket we're sure to see Blom back at the tables before too long - the question is will it be boom or bust next time out for the young superstar?
