Yes, we realise it must be getting a little boring seeing Ilari Sahamies bald head staring at your from our front page every day but as long as he keeps winning at the rate he is, unfortunately you're going to have to get used to it!
After the briefest of visits to the loser list on Sunday (he lost $64k) Ilari FIN was back to his best, destroying the opposition at the $200/$400 PLO tables on his way to a $450k win yesterday. Ilari is now up over $1.25 million this year (9th overall), over $2.6 million in the past seven days, and now sits second only to Jeans89 as the biggest winner on PokerStars since we started tracking in late 2010 with over $3.44 million in total winnings at the high stakes games.
Ilari got off to a fine start yesterday winning around over $90k from the $100/$200 tables in a morning and late afternoon sessions playing in the morning against Jeans89 and Skjervøy and in the afternoon session against patpatman, barcode and €urotr@sh1. He also won $34k from a six handed session of $50/$100 whilst also loading up his big guns at the $200/$400 tables.
Ilari started with a bang on the $200/$400 tables and once he found his feet after some early losses to barcode he began to take him apart with some relentlessly aggressive play, constantly putting is opponent to tough decisions and winning many medium sized pots without going to showdown. The pair were then joined at the table by Ben86 and patpatman and later by Sam "tr1cky7" Trickett. €urotr@sh1 and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky. Trickett put in a +$110k performance at the big games (but lost around $25k a little later at the $50/$100 stakes) and is now up over a million dollars at PokerStars since August - other than Trickett however the rest of the $200/$400 competitors all ended up losing to Ilari FIN and overall on the day to some degree. The biggest victim being barcode who ended the day a $239.2k loser.
Ilari played 2 three hour sessions of $200/$400 last night, separated by a two hour break and along the way he won six of the ten biggest pots of the day. Here are his biggest two;
Ilari's flopped wrap draw completes on the turn and Ben86 is pot committed with his over pair as he loses this $101.1k pot
Ilari gets paid off with the nuts in this $98.9k pot
There were however two bigger pots yesterday, also from the $200/$400 PLO tables;
A cooler for Ilari here as his flopped middle set is usurped by tr1cky7's flopped top set - $169.9k pot
A good call on the river from patpatman as he calls Ilari's bluff in this $129.2k pot
The only other six figure winner yesterday was new PokerStars Team Online pro, Ike Haxton whose $140k win was entirely made up from his All Star Showdown with Kanu7 as he battled back from a $40k deficit to eventually take the $100k vs $100k match in the early hours of yesterday - you can read about this match here.
