To say it's been an up and down year for Macau based player patpatman would be something of an understatement. He was up over a million dollars in May before going on an epic $3.5 million downswing through to October and has now won over $545k in the past week. He's still majorly in the red for 2012 but will obviously be hoping for a few more weeks like this over the next couple of months to give him a respectable year end total.
The week started with a result we'd become familiar with over the previous week or so, with Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies taking a big six figure win as he won $450k at the $200/$400 PLO tables. Behind Ilari we saw a +$140k win for Ike Haxton, 100% of which came from his All Star Showdown against Alex "Kanu7" Millar. You can read about Ilari's big win here
patpatman started his upswing on Tuesday last week when he topped the daily leader board with a $161k win as yet more $200/$400 PLO action took place as Ilari FIN was still throwing his now considerable bankroll around like confetti. This time however the aggressive Finn couldn't maintain his form and ended the day a $405k loser. To read about patpatman's win, Ilari and Barcode's $200k flips and how Dan "w00ki3z." Although not part of the online action this week did see the conclusion of the WSOP Main Event with Greg Merson walking away victorious with the $8.5 million first prize, the most coveted bracelet in poker and also WSOP Player of The Year Honours after a fascinating final table. Wednesday was a relatively quiet day online with considerably less $200/$400 PLO action that we had been used to but it was a good day for 2012 high stakes leader Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky who had a $213k win after taking over $100k at the $200/$400 tables in under 20 hands, and the flip action between Barcode and Ilari FIN continued. The All Star Showdown also found another first round winner as Phil "MrSweets28" took out Ben86 - check out the days events here and the Showdown action here
Thursday saw a table topping performance from Jeans89 who took a $151k win but was possibly more noteworthy for Skjervoy's near $400k loss which wiped out the good work he had put in over the previous few days. The win for Jeans89 accounted for almost half of his 7 day haul of $328k and keeps him planted firmly at the top of our total high stakes winners since we started tracking PokerStars in late 2010.
Friday saw a huge day of action with Barcode and Ilari back at it both at the heads up and ring games. This time however Ilari's luck seemed to have all but completely deserted him as he lost cooler after cooler after bad beat and slumped to a huge near $900k loss for the day. Barcode on the other hand won won close to $400k as the weeks biggest winner, patpatman also cashed in on the action with a near $1/4 million win for the day. We also saw Sauce123 defeat Ike Haxton in an epic 19 hour match to take his spot at the All Star Showdown Final - read how it went down here
Saturday saw the second semi final of the All Star Challenge take place and saw Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates defeat MrSweets28 in a comparatively swift seven hour match. Cates has been off the scene more or less since Black Friday, preferring to ply his trade incognito at the European sites but during these matches its been easy to see why he was widely regarded as one of the best if not the best head up NLHE player online up to that point. Read about the action in the semi final here
Yesterday of course saw the conclusion of the All Star Showdown with Cates defeating Sauce123 in less than 11 hours. A full report on that match will be posted shortly. We also saw some decent $100/$200 action in which patpatman put in a great 2.5 hour session against the likes of Ben86, Sam "tr1cky7" Trickett, Barcode, Odd_Oddsen and 1-ronnyr3, winning at all five tables he played on for a nice $195k win - a win which also saw him take the weekly top spot from Dan Cates, whose $450k profit from the All Star Showdown represented his weeks work at PokerStars
