Weekly Online Review - refaelamit Leads the Way & Full Tilt Hots Up
Rafi Amit is making a late charge towards a top spot on the 2012 leader board and enjoyed a +$600k win this week
A very rough week for Gus Hansen at Full Tilts nosebleed limit and PLO tables
It's been quite a week at the high stakes tables at PokerStars and Full Tilt with the continuation of the highstakes PLO over at PokerStars and some very big limit games over at Full Tilt, as well as the emergence of nosebleed NLHE and PLO action at Full Tilt. We've also seen the return of one of online pokers biggest stars as Tom "durrr" Dwan hit the online felt for the first time in a year and a half as he made his debut as a new Full Tilt "Professional".
Monday looked like it might be the start of another big week for Ilari FIN as the $200/$400 PLO games started up again at PokerStars after a couple of days of lower action. Sahamies stormed to a $500k win during the first few hours of play and in fact took down the weeks biggest pot during his initial upswing;
Both players flop well, Ilari picks up a straight on the turn but patpatman has a multitude of outs and feels compelled to call with top pair when the board pairs on the river in this $284.4k pot
Ilari's luck didn't hold out however and he ended the day virtually even as players including Barcode and Rafi "refaelamit" Amit hit back at the aggressive Finn. We also saw Isildur1 lose another six figure sum as Trueteller ran better at the $300/$600 NLHE games. To read about last Monday's action you can read the report here
Tuesday and Wednesday were an up and down couple of days for Gus Hansen over at Full Tilt. After a losing week last week Gus continued to take on the best in the limit games and ended up losing $323k on Tuesday, which made him a $700k loser since his return to Full Tilt. Tuesday he lost to Seb86 and O Fortuna PLS at the 2-7 Triple Draw tables. Wednesday however saw things take a change for the better for The Great Dane as he ended up topping the daily leader board with a $470k win, taking close to $450k from SallyWoo playing heads up $2k/$4k FLO8. We also saw Ilari FIN and refaelamit make big +$450k scores as the $200/$400 PLO action over at PokerStars as Barcode had an awful day at the office, losing over half a million dollars in the same games. Thursday saw Ilari FIN top the daily leader board with a $227k win at the $200/$400 PLO tables over at PokerStars and once again was joined at the top of the leader board by refaelamit. It seems these two, who last year jockeyed for position at the top of the PokerStars 2011 leader board have come into form just in time to end 2012 with a bang as Amit had only a $50k profit at PokerStars until the last month whereas he is now sitting on a $3/4 million profit. Ilari, as has been well documented was, until recently, $1.4 million down for 2012 but has bounced back amazingly well and is also now a $3/4 million winner. Also on Thursday Kagome Kagome took a $226k bite out of Gus Hansen's roll at the Triple Draw tables - but much worse was to come for the Great Dane a little later. You can read about Thursday's action here
Friday saw Gus Hansen play close to 30 hours straight as he went on a huge downswing, losing $1.5 million predominantly at the FLO8 tables to the likes of SallyWoo, KPR16 and cottonseed1 who won $293k, $649k and $413k respectively from the Full Tilt Professional. Gus also played relentlessly at the $200/$400 PLO tables although his results here paled into insignificance as compared to his FLO8 endeavours. Read all about it here
At least Gus was able to smile about his losses on twitter as he tweeted, "A serious meltdown @fulltiltpoker the last couple of days - gotta get back on the winning track :-)"
The weekend saw some good results for consistent high stakes winner Ronny "1-ronnyr3" Kaiser as the young Swiss pro won close to $500k at the $200/$400 PLO tables at PokerStars where we also saw the years biggest high stakes winner so far, Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky, take a $390k win on Sunday. Saturday also saw the return of durrr, although it wasn't quite the return he had hoped for as he slumped to a $243k loss on his first day back at Full Tilt - losing around half to Alex Luneau at the 2-7 Triple Draw tables, but also at the PLO tables.
