2013 is barely underway and yet Viktor "Isildur1" Blom had already surged to a $1.86 million profit by the end of play yesterday - topping the leader board yet again yesterday with a $715.6k score. As I write he is also currently up around $400k today and has therefore well and truly eclipsed the $2 million profit mark for 2013 by January 5th! In fact in less than two months, as things stand, Blom has entirely wiped out the $2.6m in losses he had incurred at Full Tilt prior to Black Friday.
Considering Isildur1 only started playing the high stakes limit games after last years WSOP it is testament to his extraordinary capacity to absorb, learn and master the different poker variants that out of his close to $1.9m winnings this year only $6k has come from the big bet games for which he is more commonly associated. He is currently $1.1m up in the 2-7 Triple Draw games and $915k up in the FLO8 games.
Following on from his c.$700k win on Thursday Isildur1 started out with a $36.8k win at the $200/$400 CAP PLO tables before the serious business at the heads up limit tables started. Things didn't go especially well for Blom at first as he lost over $150k in just 82 hands of triple draw to Alexander “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn. Blom was not in the mood to take a beating however and the pair resumed affairs less than an hour after their first session and this time Isildur1 ran riot - winning $300k from his young Russian opponent during a four hour, 800+ hand session, eventually emptying his opponents account.
During this heads up battle Blom also took on Ben "Sauce1234" at the FLO8 tables, incurring a minor $32k loss in an hour and a half session. However, he soon made up for this loss as shortly after he had busted PostFlopAction he took $42k from SallyWoo in a fifteen minute session, writing off his previous FLO8 loss before quitting his opponent. It looks like Blom quit SallyWoo as he found Sebastien "Seb86" Sabic (at that point the biggest triple draw winner at Full Tilt since the November relaunch) waiting at a $1500/$3000 2-7 Triple Draw table where, over the next hour and a half Isildur1 relieved his opponent of over $180k in around 200 hands of play.
It looked as though this might be the end of another very profitable day for the young Swede - however, it turns out the best was yet to come as just ten minutes after dismantling Seb86 he embarked on a 5hr 40 minute heads up duel with Kyle "cottonseed1" Hendon at the $2k/$4k FLO8 tables. Once again Blom was on blistering form as he ended the 858 hands session a $341.8k winner - taking his total winnings for the day up to $715.6k winner.
There was one other six figure winner yesterday and for once they came from the tables of PokerStars as HeadShotFyoV won $127.4k playing numerous opponents at the $50/$100 PLO tables including n0d1ceb4by, AlexKP and yahii . Other than Blom and HeadShotFyoV there were no other winners close to making a six figure score yesterday.
The biggest tracked hand we have from yesterday (although there were bigger hands at the limit tables which currently we do not track individually) came from an online legend, Brian "sbrugby" Townsend at the $25/$50 PLO tables at Full Tilt on his way to a $43.6k win for the day;
AceHasslehoff thinks his two blockers make it unlikely sbrugby is holding the nuts so takes an aggressive stance - Townsend however was not bluffing and turns over the stone cold nuts to take down this $34k pot
