The nosebleeds were alive to the sound of action yesterday, as Viktor "Isildur1" Blom put in 7,000 hands across the biggest games online, earning himself a huge $831k profit along the way, to put him back over $3m in winnings for 2013.
Isildur1's biggest profit came from the FLO8 tables, where he beat the three most prominent hi/lo online players out of a total of $468k. He enjoyed big sessions against SallyWoo, cottonseed1 and KPR16. In total he won $200k from SallyWoo after avenging an early $56k loss courtesey of a $254k early morning win. A few hours later he took KPR16 for $89.6k in a 38 minute session, and during the evening sessions he beat cottonseed1 for $181k in under half an hour.
Despite accounting for more than half of Blom's win, the FLO8 games accounted for less than 8% of his total hands played, as did the 570 hands played at 2-7 Triple Draw, which accounted for another $152.5k of his wins.
It was during a late morning session of $2k/$4k TD at tables Pikedale, where Isildur1 made his Draw money, winning over $220k in a 1hr 50min stint at a ring game which also featured the likes of ragen70, FinddaGrind, Gus Hansen, Kagome Kagome, and PostflopAction. Other small losses during the morning, and early evening sessions accounted for his $152.5k total profit at TD. The other big winner at the TD tables was Nicklas "ragen70" Heinecker, who took over $163k, also from table Pikedale, but ended the day a $131.9k winner.
It was the $500/$1000 CAP NLHE tables, however, which saw the vast majority of Blom's action. In total, he played over 6,000 hands between yesterday morning and the early hours of this morning at the NLHE tables, and where he inevitably saw his biggest swings.
Blom's NLHE game has been somewhat torn apart by the new crop of talent, and he's found himself out matched since his renewed passion for the game which seems to have arisen this year, after three years of dedicating himself to other games.
There is, however, no denying his love for the game, and yesterday he managed to overturn a huge deficit to end up beating some of the best in the world for a profit of $240k.
Despite winning big at the limit games, Blom's early forays at the NLHE tables did not prove especially successful, as he found himself six figures down, after losses to Ike "luvtheWNBA" Haxton, and RookieNFL. His biggest loss at NLHE, however, came after he returned from a six hour afternoon break, and took on RealMonies. He was dominated this time out by his opponent, and lost close to $270k. He also lost six figures to Haxton, who ended the day as one of the biggest winners, with a total profit of $122k.
He then went on to make a bad start against the self proclaimed "World's Best Heads-Up No Limit Hold'em Player", Doug "WCGRider" Polk, a title Polk has a reasonable claim to, especially as he'd just completed a totally dominant and successful 15k hand challenge against big bet giant, Ben "Sauce1234" Sulsky. Blom quickly dropped over $100k to Polk, and at this point was down over $500k for the day in NLHE.
Then, it all changed.
Isildur1 started to fight back, and after the first hour, he began to take contorl of the match. The pair ended up playing close to 2,700 hands over a 3.5 hour period, and Isildur1 managed to make a $460k turnaround, turning his six figure loss into a $360k win. Clearly Polk had had enough for one night, as unusually, it was him quitting Isildur1 this time, with the promise of more action later.
At the end of this match, Isildur1 had managed to turn his >$500k NL loss into a small ($29k) win for the day. However, he wasn't quite finished, and in a match which will be counted as part of today's daily result (as the match started around 2.30am server time), Isildur1 reignited his battle with RookieNFL.
RookieNFL had been up around $160k on Isildur1 earlier in the day, but Blom had fought back well during the evening sessions to more or less even things out. This match, however, was all about Blom. In just over 200 hands, and in under half an hour, Isildur1 had won another $209k, thus ending his session up over $831k since the start of play yesterday.
When this win is added, Isildur1 is now up over $3.2m for 2013, after having fallen back to even less than a month ago.
Other big winners yesterday including Denoking, who beat SanIker for over $200k at $200/$400 NLHE, but ended the day a $155.3k winner after earlier losses at the same limits against RookieNFL, and Patrik "FinddaGrind" Antonius who won $131.3k, split between the FLO8 and 8-game tables.
