david tuchman yesterday said something about "it's gonna happen very soon" while he was commenting

and my guess is pretty much everybody will be allowed to play besides the us players with the exception of las vegas / nevada residents

but ... i haven't been interested much in dat stuffz so this is just what i heard through wsop commentary + common sense

cheers

You will have to be inside of the state of Nevada to play.

Right now i believe that the licenses issued for online poker, in Nevada, are for INTRASTATE online poker ONLY. This means that you have to be inside the state in order to play. This also means that only people within the state can play on the site. No one else, even outside of the US, can play on the site.

You will be able to deposit on the site if you live in another state, but only able to play when you are in the state of Nevada.

It is one of the criticisms of the law, that it will make for a very small player pool. At least it is a first step.

It is possible that eventually the sites will be allowed to get an interstate licenses, allowing for people to play from outside the state. The problem is that even if they get the interstate license they will most likely only allow people from US states where poker has been declared legal by law. An interstate license would also likely allow people from other countries to play on the site.

So the short answer is:

For now you can play from within the US, but only if you are within the state of Nevada and only against those who are within the state.

You don't have to live there to have money on the site, but you have to be within the State lines in order to play.

Also there is no official time line for it to open up to anywhere else in the US or in the world.

It is a good first step. However can you trust the casinos from Nevada, when you know their gaming has been rigged since the beginning of time? Just a joke.
