Going to Vegas this summer

It sounds like you are going more for fun than actually trying to run a bankroll up...Aria is BY FAR the best poker room on the strip. However, the cash games start at 1/3 and you need to bring atleast 1500 for the trip to play in those games (not proper bankroll requirements, but 5 BI for a trip for fun seems reasonable). However, they do run two fantastic daily tournaments for $125 that start at 1 and 7 each day. They have the best structure of any daily tournament in Vegas and the staff and service is amazing...I would also check out the Todd English Pub which is just outside of Aria at the entrance to the shops. PS if you play in this tournament you can get the poker room rate at Aria of $99 a night...Other than Aria...I actually think a place like Bally's is a decent place to play. They are going to spread 1/2, which is what you should start out with...I also heard the Hard Rock moved and expanded their poker room. It may be worth looking into that...More places to eat...Strip Burger located across from Encore is amazing...Joe's at Caesar's Forums or Joel Rubuchon's (The Mansion is super expensive, but worth it...however, they have Latelier next door...same food...still amazing, in MGM). Stay away from New York, New York...they SUCK...except the roller coaster is worth doing...even though its short. HAVE to go to In-N-Out! At the Rio, yes you can walk in and just rail...It is off of the strip though, you will have to cab it. Also for Cirque shows, I think KA is the best. It's martial arts and the stage can move any direction they want its pretty nuts...plus in the lobby you can get about the biggest liquor drinks ever. I got a large run and coke. Yes it was 27 bucks but it was also a 12 count which is like a quad! Back to poker...if this is strictly for entertainment, Planet Hollywood on the weekends has GOGO dancers...Also, the people at Bellagio are notoriously bad, as far as the staff and their attitude. Games also don't typically run in Bobby's room...however, I am sure they will this summer. You can't get in there but you can stand outside of the poker area for a few minutes and atleast see everybody. That is what is cool at Aria, there is always a 400/800 mixed game running and the doors are open. Everyone is nice and approachable. I mean don't actually go in the room but they come out all the time and you can say hello. I saw Huck Seed, Scott Seiver, Helmuth, John Monnette, Crazy Mike...Anyways, GL have fun!

Was wondering about a couple of things though, since I've never been there: - Where would be the best place to play lower stakes poker (blinds $2/$2'ish or lower)? What's the lever of play at those stakes? - How do you pay for playing poker? Are pots raked or do you just have to pay a certain amount per hour? - Since it's mid-WSOP I'd definitely like to go rail a little and experience the atmosphere. Can you just walk into the Rio for free and rail? Same for Bobby's room and other big live games. Yea, I know I must sound like an uber vegasnoob now... which I am.

You get to close and the guards will chase you away. Bobbys is in the Bellagio. I am not sure about them having 2/2, but they do have either 2/5 or 5/5 I dont remember. Im not sure where there are lower stakes games BUT some of the lesser casinos, like MGM, or Ballys might be your best bet. How is the quality of play at these stakes? Not terrible but not great but the thing is this. There are now professionals at every level of play. There are people who are more then content to grind out a couple of hundred a day at the 1/2 game and there are people at the 10/25 happy to grind out 5-20K a day. Just depends. I stayed in both Monte Carlo and MGM last time I was there. Monte Carlo's min stakes were $1/$3 whereas the MGM's poker room seemed to have at least 2 or 3 $1/$2NL running 24/7. In terms of the level of play, I found that there was always just a mixture but there tended to be more recreational players who were just there to have some fun. Never been to the Rio for WSOP, but I'd imagine that you could probs just rock up and rail on the day. However, I'd imagine that's not the case for Bobby's Room or any other high stakes games running in any other casinos. I've never tried to rail them, but I'd say they're private and not just open for anyone to dander into.

Yes, I figured I wouldn't be able to stand behind durrrr and check his cards and say "I'd ship it" because of the publicity poker has and Bobby's room is behind windows from what I've seen on photo's. Was wondering if you would be able to watch it from a distance. So are there any decent casino's off of the strip, or is it shady/dangerous to play there? 2/5 would definitely be out of my comfort zone (easy to understand because it's kind of a college graduation - start working after it kind of trip), 0.5/1 would be perfect. BOZFACE Group: Forum Members Last login: 2012-02-11 Posts: 2, Visits: 12	RE: Going to Vegas this summer i went to vegas few months ago played in the bellagio most of the time cause thats were i stayed..... they have1/2 2/5 and 5/10 and higher privite rooms. 1/2 is very fishy and easy to profit as standard is not that good,2/5 is much better a lot of local ppl play and that standard is all round good but sometimes hard to get a fold as there is a a lot who want to see a flop. played at the MGM not as many ring games on but they run too daily tournaments. good luck in vegas stick to the poker and avoid the roulette.

Ceasers also plays a soft game, and the Venetian..... expect tables full of old men at the MGM and frenchys who buy in for 60$, my fave was young guys with there gf siting behind railing, was funny 2 bust them....pity they cudnt put the gf in the pot also lol! anyways you should have no problems beating 1/2 live, it plays very straight forward....

It's definitely a recreational visit to Vegas but I will grind at least an entire day, take it on seriously and try to win some extra funds for the rest of the trip . If I'd lose, no problem, I won't miss the money since I consider the maximum money I will let myself lose, lost already.
