Peter Eastgate sold his 2008 Main Event Bracelet on eBay for something around $38K. He won $9.1M on the Main Event, now tell me, why the **** he didn't give $500K to Unicef instead of selling his Main Event bracelet, I mean, It's the Main Event bracelet, you can't sell it. It's the ultimate poker accomplishment.

Interesting. As far as I remember, eastgate moved to london over the break before the final table (was first year for november nine), to try and get out of paying so much tax, but it was so recently and after he had final tabled, that it was unlikely to get him off the hook. Tons of articles on what he owed, nothing about what he paid actually. Maybe he got off the hook or negotiated it down since he was in UK at that point.

The WSOP events are just poker tournaments like any other... they just happen to be marketed better and are artificially made out to be the pinnacle of poker. Obviously this is good for pros (more bad players want to play), good for the casino (more players play and more money for them) and good for the spectators, because it feels special and makes it more exciting to watch.
But lets be real, clearly they are just poker tournaments. How is winning a WSOP event superior to winning a different event with the same caliber (other events usually tougher) and same number of players? I have a bracelet from 2006 and it's at my parents place (because they have a safe) and it's been there for 3-4 years. I haven't looked at it or shown it to anyone, or thought about it at all really... till this thread. If I was offered the right amount of money for it, I'd sell it in a flash.
On that note, how much did the bracelet go for?
