Hey mcaslan

u said u wanted to know if any of us notice if ur doing anything wrong to help u improve ur game so here goes:

In general u are overplaying ur hands a bit, for example;

When mid pos opened for a 4x raise, buttone called it and u in sb with KJ suited called it.

Thats a misstep right there.

U can not play that hand profitably from there, first of all ur out of pos, second ur KJ will be dominated in this spot a lot of the time.

So if u hit ur K or ur J ur not likely to win a big pot when u have the best hand, but u might lose a big pot the times u do have the best hand, or find urself in a difficult spot and have to fold.

I also noticed u calling in utg +1 with Q10 suited when first pos raised it 4x, then u also called a big reraise with it and ended up loosing a big pot. in a reraised pot Q10 suited or not is a total garbage hand.

One thing that i think could help you in ur play, is thinking in hand-ranges. Like what kinds of hands is he raising 4x with under the gun? I think ull then discover that his average hand there is way stronger then Q10 suited, and therefore u should fold.

I think u should focus a bit on this for now and see where it takes you.

And remember, be the agressor, dont be the caller

I think we've had this conversation before MC. You need to cut back your swings for a while. This will stop alot of the colddecks and bad beats. It's all very well saying that you have odds to call all the time preflop, but this creates longer losing streaks as well as longer winning ones.

I completely agree with kaiser. It's sound advice. On a loose table when I raise UTG I am going to have one of very few starting hands. Probably AA, KK, QQ and AK. By putting people on starting ranges you can work out what cards they are most likely to have.

In the hand you played KQ from the bb, the only likely hands that you are beating are AA,KK, QJ and any drawing hand (KJ, J9 or a flushdraw). If you know your opponents starting requirements UTG, you can probalby eliminate all but AA and KK, and then decide whether that opponent would play either of those hands all in on that board. If he wouldnt, he most likely has AQ or TT.

Alot of good players would justifiably go broke on that hand anyway, but be honest with yourself and think whether you considered what your opponent was holding in that hand, or whether you just looked at your trips and played all in because you had a big hand. If you did consider what your opponent had and made the decision you were in front,(maybe he was raising UTG with bad cards like Q8s), there is nothing you can do and it's "just one of those things", but if you didn't it is a bad losing play.

Also remember that suited cards only give you an extra 2% chance at best of winning the hand. Would you have played the QT to a reraise if it wasn't suited??? I don't think you would have. If you played suited cards like non suited cards for a while, that would cut down on you swings too.

The main thing to remember is, you have been a winning player at higher levels before, so you just need to find out what you were doing then that you aren't doing now, and you will be back there sooner than you think

Good luck.
