| Guy is always noted as the biggest fish ever and such but how fishy is he really? Until which limit he could be a winning player? What I personally don't understand is why he plays this high if he knows he cant win on the long term. If I'd be a decent football player I would love to play with Arsenal a few times but after getting owned time after time I'd be sick of it and go play at my own level. Or would the hurt of losing 200K a week or something like that trigger him somehow like gambling addicts who, somehow, enjoy the hurt? Would losing like 15M hurt someone who has >1000M?

| Ok i've thought about this a lot as well. The way i see it is Guy is worth around 2.5Billion dollars, and he continues to make money off of his business ventures. Therefore even though it seems ludicrous to you or me, he can afford to lose 10s of millions of dollars a year for the rest of his life and it will not affect him one bet. Now that the money is no issue, it is obvious that he just wants to play against the best and improve. Even though he is a major fish in these cash games compared to the other players, he is nevertheless improving, probably at a higher rate than if he played lower with more equal competition. Plus, since money is no issue, he probably still gets a kick out of the occasional winning session he has, knowing that he beat the best even if he is going to donate it back the next day.

| Usually the fish at these stakes dont have to be terrible players, the opposition is just so good. But in Guy's case its completely safe to say he wouldn't beat 0,5/1, maybe 025/050 at the softest sites.

Have you seen him in Highstakes poker?
To him its like playing with children for matchsticks.
THEY are the poor fishes to him and he can give them $200k just so they dont feel bad.

he learn from the best . that's why he still playing highstakes .
of course he know about his play . he is so far a fish .
but it's not important for him to loose money cause poker and gambling is not his job .
ok poker players like Benyamine ,Hansen ... need to manage a bankroll and think about the better way to earn money . but for guy , it is just about to become better and in the future to be as good as Benyamine or hansen .
i think then it is a good way to learn high level poker . you are sure to always find a lot of teachers to play against you , and of course you learn from your mistackes. we can criticize this kind of play . but when you are a billionar it' in my sence to a so bad way , if you want to learn quickly.
and at least when he sit on a table we always got a lot of action.

I dont think he cares. He is looking for a challenge, and there has always been players like Guy dropping a lot of money in high stakes poker. Just that Guy is more open with it and appears on HSP, Poker After Dark Cash Games e t c
His goal is probably to play against the best, to learn from them and occasionally outplay them. And even if he is a long term loser the times when he feel like he won by outplaying his opponents is probably enough reward.
