RE: take a break?
when i run realy bad or have a tillty session i like 2 ban for a couple of days and do some reading or watch a few vids and look over some hands that i have played. i feel this gets me refreshed and i come back and and play well within my bankroll like 1% buy ins and focus on strategy and less on results.
iv learned bankroll management the hard way but it is so important for dealing with variance

The most important thing is to have the hottest woman you know have sex with you at least 4 times a week. Without the stress relief, your poker game will suffer - it also helps if she has a friend who likes to join in............

RE: take a break?
4 card poker (2010-02-08) ok well i have been playing poker for about just over a year now and im a pretty profitable player. but for the past 3 weeks i have just been running god awful. both online and live live ive lost maybe 600 in my last 3 sessions... and online my roll has just become laughable compared to what it use to be down about 800. In a few spots ive made a few mistakes but mainly ive had a doom switch when it comes to the river. about 70% of my losing hands i have been ahead till the river. so i know im playing well and getting my money in good... so just unlucky i suppose.. but its been happening for almost a month and my bankrolls are standing on their last legs..thinking about taking a few months off to recharge my br and hoping this bad luck rubs off?... need sugestions on how to combat this bad run HELP PLEASEIf you've been playing profitably for a year, but have lost over the last three weeks, then it is almost certainly down to variance and it's, essentially, just the product of bad luck... Look at Antonius, one of the best players in the world... he won $9 million in 2009 and then lost nearly $2 million in January of this year. He didn't play a lot worse, he just caught a bad run of cards... to repeat an over-used phrase, 'that's poker...' I wouldn't suggest taking a break unless you think you're tilting and not playing your best game, but as you say you're running into some wicked rivers it doesn't sound like that's the case... Maybe try dropping a couple of levels and setting aside some of your bankroll to play at this new level... play well there, rebuild your profits and your confidence, and when you feel good about the game again, return to the level you were playing at before... Remember, there's no such thing as 'the doomswitch' regardless of what the 'it's all rigged' conspiracy theorists (aka losers) think... At the end of the day good players with good bankroll management will always win... Good luck...

Don't think you are bothering me either. We both know your intellect is inferior 1) The concept of you being intellectually superior to ANYONE here is laughable... You are, after all, someone who has repeatedly failed to spell the word 'than' correctly.... (Clue: it doesn't have an 'e' in it... ) 2) Congratulations on being the winner of the 'most annoying twat on the site' poll though... even you have to win at something 3) As you're one of the continual 'it's all rigged' donks, it's fairly clear that you're one of the many losers here... I apologise if I'm one of the many people here who have taken your money 4) If you really must PM me insults, please ensure in future that you have a 7 year old girl check the grammar first... sometimes it's actually difficult to read

RE: take a break?
I feel your pain. Welcome your first dowswing. Mine came after 6 months and its brutal cause you begin to worry and might think your not that good and was just lucky. It is the best time to analyse your game. You shouldnt take a break for a month or more. Only if you dont enjoy it or you feel addicted , having problems etc. If thats not the case, then just take a week off and start again. Downswings will come, its inevitable. But the beauty is: they will go as well. If your running well, you dont think as much about ur game as when ur running bad. My advice is to play a little lower. Playing your usual limits can scare you because your mind made you insecure cause of your bad run. You will make mistakes because of that. PLaying lower gives you some air to play your A game and you will lose less money if you keep losing. 2nd: Tighten up. Its never bad to tighten up some and particulair in this case. The hands you do play, you can play more confortable. 3th work on your game. dont multitable. Take 2 for example and focus on the flow, get that feeling back. It will come. As soon as this swing is over you get back to your old winning ways and forget these weeks. The next time you get a downswing it will hurt less. It just part of the deal m8. Recover.. its not a shame to even take some steps back when ur running bad for a week or 2 weeks. downswings can last for a lot longer then your 3 weeks now. Lars Luzak had a sick one in 2009, talking about months. the more you get familiar with the swings the less it will hurt you and most important: effecting your game.
