DIN_FRU

Erik Sagstrom is one of the least known hugely successful online poker players in the world. Having happened upon online poker while surfing the web, the 17-year old Swede figured he’d come across something he’d like to do for a living, and right he was about it. Not only did he become one of the most successful poker professionals in record time, he became part of online poker history when he helped Antanas Guoga and Gus Hansen set up the online poker site PokerChamps.com.

When it comes to achievements, online poker is where Sagstrom really shines. He won event #4 of the World Championship of Online Poker in 2003 to score his biggest online tournament haul at $101,850. He also took part in the Poker Nations’ Cup and the PartyPoker.com Football and Poker Legends cup. He plays online at Full Tilt Poker under the nickname DIN_FRU, but apparently he plays at other sites too (like every savvy online player should), under names like Erik123 and The Salmon.
In 2007, he launched his very own online poker site, Erik123.com. The URL now redirects to Stingbet though, with which we’re not certain whether he’s involved or not.

Despite the fact that he prefers to play online, he’s had his share of live poker exploits too. In 2006, he took on Liz Lieu in a series of $200k limit Holdem matches in Las Vegas. He eventually lost the series 2-1. He played in several WSOP events as well, but to this day, he only has a single cash finish to show. In 2009, he finished 3rd in the $50k HORSE event.
