Born in 1983, in Santa Fe Springs, California, Daniel Alaei is not a member of the online poker only generation. He is fairly well known on the live circuit, and he has a fair number of impressive live tournament accomplishments to his name.
He currently has 2 WSOP bracelets. He won the first one in 2006, in the NL 2-7 Draw Lowball event. That piece of jewelry came with a $430,698 prize.
He finished in the money in no fewer that 18 WSOP events. His highest Main Event finish came in 2007, when he survived a starting field of 6,358 players to finish 25th. In 2004 and 2005 he cashed in the Main Event too.
His second WSOP bracelet came in 2009, when he won the $10,000 World Championship Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or better event. That deed hooked him a $445,808 prize.
In December 2009, he scored his first and as yet only WPT Title. At the Doyle Brunson 5 Diamond World Poker Classic, he bested a starting field of 329 players to take down a $1,428,430 prize.
The achievement was all the more impressive because he beat players like Josh Arieh and Scotty Nguyen at the final table.
Alaei did finish 5 more times in the money in various WPT events. His career live tournament winnings are around $3,700,000.
Thought to be playing at Full Tilt Poker under the alias “FakeSky”, Alaei is a regular at the Mixed Games tables.
