O Fortuna PLS is 40th on the list of biggest poker winners tracked by HighstakesDB. The data is based on 70895 hands played and his total cash game profits amount to $1,357,776.
“O Fortuna PLS” is an unknown high stakes Fixed Limit Hold’em player from Germany, who plays LHE stakes ranging from $100/$200 to $3,000/$6,000. And he has been on the HighStakesDB radar ever since we started tracking Limit Hold’em games. In addition to playing LHE, O Fortuna PLS also dabbles in 2-7 Triple Draw games.
One of the most impressive things about the German is that he’s certainly not afraid to mix it up against the best players in the world. O Fortuna PLS has had some very memorable sessions against Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen and Kagome Kagome.
As his HighStakesDB graph shows, it only took O Fortuna PLS one month to push his winnings up over $500k, which he hit at the end of August, 2010. Several huge sessions accounted for O Fortuna PLS’ ability to accumulate winnings so quickly, which included a $500k profit in an August $2,000/$4,000 LHE session against Dwan. O Fortuna PLS’s winnings took a dive in September though when he lost almost $450k throughout the month. However, he quickly recovered with more big sessions, including one where he hauled in another $316k in an October game of $2,000/$4,000 LHE against Dwan.
O Fortuna PLS continued to experience more huge sessions in November, when he crushed Hansen for $560k in 1,110 hands. He showed some versatility here by beating Hansen in $1,500/$3,000 2-7 Triple Draw. O Fortuna PLS has been a thorn in Hansen’s side since he eventually won another $600k off the Great Dane in March, 2011. It’s huge sessions like this that have helped O Fortuna PLS further increase his bankroll from $555k in January, 2011 to $1.53 million in March, 2011.
One of O Fortuna PLS’ largest hands during this run was a $12,000 win over “KPR16” on March 4th. A raise by KPR16 and a call by O Fortuna PLS put the pot at $2,000 before the flop. O Fortuna PLS, who was holding A-K offsuit, flopped the nuts on a board of 7-K-K rainbow; re-raising between the two players built the pot up to $8,000. The turn (4) and river (J) failed to improve KPR16’s hand as O Fortuna PLS would eventually go on to win a $12,000 pot.
Since the huge winnings in March, O Fortuna PLS has been pretty quiet, as can be seen by his lack of profits lately. He dropped close to $100k in the spring, and lost another $10k over the summer. Even with the recent losses, O Fortuna PLS is sitting at over $800k in 2011 winnings.
