Although he tends to fly under most people’s radar, Di Dang is without a doubt one of the most successful online poker players. Between Di and his brother Hac Dang (known online as trex313), the two have amassed substantial winnings competing against the highest caliber opponents over the last few years.
Di’s poker career began during his third year of college at the University of Virginia. Initially, Di played primarily NL. When he began to seriously consider poker as a possible career, he transitioned to FLH. After experiencing a fair amount of success at the LHE tables, he made the transition back to NL where he routinely crushed his opponents.
Having his brother to bounce ideas off of and learn the game together, proved to be an invaluable resource for Di. The brothers, who shared a bankroll, were able to climb the stakes quickly and it wasn’t long before they were fixtures at the nosebleed games.
As the NL action began to dry up, Di poured his efforts into learning PLO which he currently considers to be his main game.
In early 2011, Di decided to start a restaurant near his home in Northern Virginia. He has dedicated the same effort to this new endeavor as he did to poker and it is beginning to show as the business has taken off. He tries to find time to continue playing but Black Friday has made it difficult to do so.
In late 2012, Di began making training videos for his friend and fellow poker player Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond’s training site RunItOnce.com. In addition to the videos, Di is active in the forums both answering questions and offering advice to subscribers of the site.
