Theo Jorgensen is a Danish professional from Copenhagen, Denmark who is best known for his live tournament play. Jorgensen was first introduced to poker in the early 90’s as a dealer at one of Copenhagen’s casinos. Before long, Jorgensen was playing poker himself, and slowly building the skills that would make him a future pro.
Jorgensen’s fist major live tournament cash game in a 2004 Five-Star WPC Pot Limit Omaha event, where he finished third and earned $41k. Jorgensen earned his first major victory the same year when he won the 15th European 7-Card Stud Championship Final and cashed for €101,688. He also won a WSOP Europe £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament in 2008, which netted him £218,626. And while these are all great accomplishments, they don’t quite measure up to Jorgensen’s biggest victory in the €10,000 WPT Grand Prix de Paris; he hauled in €638,377 for this victory.
As far as online poker goes, Jorgensen plays under the name “Theo J” at PokerStars, which is also his sponsor. Unfortunately for Jorgensen, he hasn’t been quite the success in the online poker world, but he is certainly improving. Jorgensen started playing high stakes games in 2008 under the name “THEDONKEYNO1” on Full Tilt Poker.
Aside from poker, Jorgensen helped provide one of the most entertaining stories of 2009 when he boxed Gus Hansen. Jorgensen, who is an avid lover of boxing, defeated Hansen in a judges decision. Besides boxing, Jorgensen also enjoys playing tennis, squash and football.
