Ashton Griffin is one of Full Tilt’s nosebleed regulars. Known online as theASHMAN103, he plays for amounts regular mortals find difficult to comprehend. He’s only 20-21 years old yet he’d already been a millionaire once, before going bust. He was still underage when he used a fake ID card to get into Bobby’s Room where the world’s best players congregate.
Griffin began playing poker with his mom and sister and then with some friends in school. He was still in high-school when he started playing online, where he immediately began multi tabling $60 SNGs.
It was during his sophomore year that he became serious about the game. He had serious bankroll management issues though and he took a huge downswing that year, being left with only $200 in his account. It was then that he told his father he’d become a millionaire in 2-3 years’ time. He began to study the game seriously and by the end of August, he had turned the $200 into $10,000. That prompted him to quit school and to focus entirely on poker. The rest - as they say- is history.
That $10,000 turned into $1.2 million in about a year’s time as Griffin became a regular at the $300/$600, $200/$400 and $500/$1,000 stakes at Full Tilt Poker. He began making mistakes though and a tilt led him to lose almost all of his bankroll within a week’s time.
He rebuilt to about $600k, then lost a big chunk of money again. That time around he had to be staked to bounce back. He did get it right though and he was once again back in action.
His live poker achievements are quite modest: he once reached the final table at the LAPT’s Costa Rice stop.
