Known at the online tables as “trex313” Hac Dang is Di Dang’s brother and devoted sidekick. The two brothers play on a shared bankroll and they never play at the same table. Hac (and Di) were both born in Virginia and he attended UVA where they obtained a degree in mechanical engineering. The fact alone that the two brothers bothered to finish the 5-year school while earning horrendous amounts of money from online poker, speaks leaps and bounds about their general attitude about life and about their respect for their parents. The two of them started playing poker separately at Party Poker and a sibling rivalry soon ensued among them. As one of them would get better and move up the limits, the other would put in extra hours to catch up and eventually to surpass his brother’s performance. A turning point in their online careers was when they decided that instead of competing against each other, by teaming up they could radically reduce variance and they could move up the stakes faster. Soon, from Party’s $3/$6 tables they moved to Full Tilt’s $200/$400 tables and later to the $500/$1,000 ones. Despite having become two of the most successful online players in the world, modesty is a virtue both of them have retained. Hac says he’s not as good a player as most people believe. He’s just good at managing his bankroll. None of them are aiming to make the transition to live poker, first of all because they do not consider they’re up to the challenge and secondly because they do not plan to devote their lives entirely to poker.
