Milen Stefanov wins WPT Seminole Rock and Roll Poker Open Main Event for $545,070

Milen Stefanov took down the WPT Seminole Rock and Roll Poker Open Main Event last night, banking $545,070 for outlasting the biggest RRPO field in the event’s history.

With 988 entries to the $3,500 buy-in tournament, the $2million guarantee was well and truly smashed, a prizepool of $3,161,600 with 124 in the money and half that total to be shared among the six players who returned for the final table on day 5.

It turned into the Milen Stefanov show when he firstly disposed of Francis Anderson with rivered trips, and then Cesar Fuentes and Roman Korenev, the latter falling to the Bulgarian’s pocket aces…

Korenev: Q♠ 10♠

That left the remaining trio assured of at least $¼million, and David Novosel would be the man to fall in 3rd, Stefanov turning a full house to catch out Novosel’s two pair.

Stefanov’s final table sun-run had given him a 5:1 chip lead for the heads-up battle with Fabian Gumz, but two quick double-ups almost levelled that disparity.

Nevertheless, Stefanov once again pulled away and eventually finished things off to lift the RRPO trophy, a lifetime best cash of $545,070 and a $15k WPT Tournament of Champions seat.

“It feels amazing, it’s almost like it’s catching me off guard,” said Stefanov afterwards, adding: “The emotions are running rampant, like even more than when I was playing.”

“To be a champion finally of the WPT, it feels amazing. It’s an understatement.”

Final table results:

1 Milen Stefanov $545,070
2 Fabian Gumz $353,380
3 David Novosel $260,845
4 Roman Korenev $194,605
5 Cesar Fuentes $146,760
6 Francis Anderson $111,895
