It was the second-biggest online poker tournament ever held, and the largest $10k buy-in event, exceeded only by last year’s version – this time around 2109 players making the prizepool $21,090,000.

There were 27 survivors from the second full day of action, with day 1A leader jiggidyjigjohn falling out of contention in 42nd, with a $52,725 cash, meaning the $1million bonus for a post-to-post run stayed in the partypoker coffers – poker room manager Chris Donnachie ‘breathing a sigh of relief’ according to the site blog.

Team pro Isaac 'Ike_Haxton' Haxton was among those remaining who had secured $63,270, while the top 16 would be looking at a $121,267 cash.

Among those who made the final table - by which time the money had risen to $316,350, with $millions still on the line, was John Duthie, partypokerLIVE President and the man who founded the EPT many years ago.

Duthie may be one of the old-school, but his 5th place finish showed he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level, banking a lifetime best score of $869,962.50.

The four players left were now officially $millionaires, and when Rank 1 Global departed in 4th spot for $1,107,225 the talk turned to a deal.

That didn’t happen immediately, however, but after nomeansyes fell in 3rd – a monster $1,370,850 cash, but perhaps bittersweet as the player to turn down the deal – the heads-up duo decided that $2.2million each plus some heavy change was a fair deal.

Frenchsniperrr, the poker alter ego of Frenchman Benjamin Chalot, took $2,259,113.58 for first place by dint of having the bigger stack, while Lucio settled for a massive $2,222,511.43 runner-up payout.
