Big names such as former WSOP Main Event champ Joe Hachem and last year’s WSOP player of the year Rob Campbell had already fallen by the wayside, and the Belarus-born Polish partypoker Team pro was among eight players who returned for the final table of the $2,500 H.O.R.S.E. tournament.

Only six of those would make the money, Simon Chahine becoming the bubbleboy after Ari Engel had fallen first. Three Australians were looking for a win on home soil, but these hopes would end when Vasco Zapantzis fell in third.

The heads-up battle between Urbanovich and Frenchman Julien Sitbon lasted several hours, a deal struck along the way and the partypoker man finally seeing off his tough rival in a hand of 7 Card Stud.

Final results

1 Dzmitry Urbanovich AU$28,755*
2 Julien Sitbon AU$27,000*
3 Vasco Zapantzis AU$14,175
4 Jan Suchanek AU$10,395
5 Rainer Quel AU$7,560
6 Alan Wilson AU$6,615

Urbanovich told reporters afterwards: "Melbourne is my favourite place to play. I’ve never had a ring, never won a tournament in Australia. It's perfect".

He added: “I'm going to carry on from here and play as many Aussie Millions events as I can while I'm here."

With Australia currently being ravaged by wildfires, the Crown Resorts and its Packer family owners pledged $5million to help volunteer firefighters and charities across the country.
