The $1100 buy-in tournament boasted a $1million guarantee, and a total of 1030 entries took their shot at Rob Yong’s Nottingham cardroom, with 148 players making it to the cash.

Among those in the money were the Team partypoker roster of Roberto Welsh Wizard Romanello, Jeff Gross, Bruno Fitoussi, Ludovic Geilich, John Duthie, and Philipp Gruissem, with Sam Grafton, Jonathan Little, Dietrich Fast, Adrian Mateos and Paul Jackson also pocketing a payout.

The final nine were all assured of a $10,500 payday, enough to enter the Main Event proper due to kick off its day1B today. Tat table included former MILLIONS UK Main Event champion, Argentina’s Maria Lampropulos, and partypoker’s 2019 MILLIONS South America champion Marty Mathis.

The Red Diamond site’s hopes were pinned on Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospelier, who battled his way to the heads-up match for the title against the Russian pro.

Ponomarev’s previous best had been a $50k cash for an excellent run at last year’s WSOP Main Event in Vegas, and he topped that last night by seeing off his famous French rival.

Ponomarev booked $150,000 for the victory, while Grospelier added $93,000 to his more than $14million in tournament cashes.
