Michael Addamo wins Aussie Millions $50k Challenge for A$1,073,790

Australian pro Michael Addamo took down the $50k Challenge at the Aussie Millions, scooping the first prize of A$1,073,790 (US$738,234) on home soil at Melbournes Crown Casino.

Addamo was one of 82 entries to the HighRoller event, the A$50k buy-in translating to just over US$34k and attracting many of world’s best players, all chasing a chunk of the A$3,977,000 ($2,734,199) prizepool.

Erik Seidel, Alex Foxen, Kristen Bicknell, Ben Lamb and Sam Greenwood all made it to the money after Michael Soyza fell on the bubble, and it was partypoker pro Bicknell who was first to depart in 10th spot for a A$119,130 ($81,902) cash.

Seidel fell in 8th, surviving twice while all in against kings, but falling at the third runout against the cowboys, while Kempe and Adams both hit the rail in the same hand.

Their executioner Greenwood could ‘only’ manage 4th place and a A$397,700 ($273,420) payday when he ran smack-bang into Addamo’s aces.

Turkey’s most successful-ever player Orpen Kisacikoglu fell in 3rd, it was heads-up between Addamo and Cary Katz for the title, more than $1.2million on the line.

Katz fought bravely despite his chip deficit, but Addamo finally took down the win when he flopped a set against top pair, Katz having to settle for the A$715,860 (US$492,156) runner-up cheque, while Addamo pocketed A$1,073,790 (US$738,234) for the victory.
