Triton Poker Announce 2020 Leaderboard Race With $250,000 For The Winner

Triton Poker, home of the Super High Roller series, has announced a new Player of the Year leaderboard race for 2020, with the winner set to pocket 2million HKD ($250,000).

In the first of its kind for Triton, four stops on the 2020 tour will provide players with an opportunity to accrue points towards the leaderboard, kicking off with next month’s Triton opener at the Landing Casino in Jeju, South Korea.

Three more stops will follow, with Montenegro (May 4-18) and London (Jul 29-Aug 13) already booked, with ‘a Triton surprise’ still to be announced for the autumn/winter season.

One point of note is that the Triton Million London: A Helping Hand for Charity tournament last year, which had a $1,050,000 buy-in, would not be eligible towards the race were it to be run again.

The ‘invite-only’ aspect of the tournament, that saw Bryn Kenney lose out heads-up to Aaron Zang but in the process become the winningest tournament player in history, would render it ineligible.

‘Cash games and restricted buy-in live tournament don’t count towards PoY points’ is the rule being used, but that still leaves a large number of events for players to win points – including some extra events should the players ask for them.

Playing early and a lot may be one key to topping the leaderboard, extra points awarded to those who buy in early and re-enter, described as ‘benefits for punctual players and those who fire multiple bullets.’

The points formula to be used will be based on ‘finishing position’ multiplied by ‘buy-in amount’ and the ‘total number of entrants and re-entrants’.

Triton have also added a ‘Player of the Festival’ title for each individual SHR Series stop, winners bagging an additional 100 points for the final leaderboard.
