The Sunday grind was dominated this weekend by HighStakes and their BIG Sunday, the €200,000 guaranteed one-day series producing some scintillating final tables as newcomers took on the sites best,

There were 50 entries to the BIG Sunday Main Event, the €530 buy-in promising a €25k guarantee and hitting it bang on the button.

Won last time out by Joseph 'subiime' Cheong, the WSOP bracelet holder couldn’t go back-to-back, but there were a few well-known HighStakes regs running deep.

Used2bcool had scooped the Triple Crown last time out – a hattrick of wins giving him €10k in tournament cash to spend – and he used a chunk of it to reach 7th place yesterday, a €750 cash.

Jack of HighStakes legend AbreuSan managed a creditable 5th for a €2k payout, while SunTzu and his poker version of ‘the art of war’ was good enough for 3rd place and €3500.

That left ma5t3rm1nd and Pinkers999 to fight it out for the Main Event title, and it was the latter – a newcomer to the site - who came through in the end, a €9000 scoop, his opponent settling for the €5250 runner-up cash.

Elsewhere there was a big double victory for screwface, the Vietnamese player starting by taking down event 7 on the schedule – the ThreeFifty – for a €4536 score.

He followed that up by topping the €215 buy-in ReBuy High later in the day to add €6000 to his tally, seeing off HighStakes cash game reg nevitup88.

Nevitup88’s runner-up spot was good for €4k, with another €1k for coming 5th in screwface’s earlier victory.

The BIG Sunday, which doubled its January guarantee from €100k to €200k for yesterday’s edition, is fast becoming a regular on the scene – with March 1st set for the next running.

The other big sites were also doing their thing yesterday, and on Americas CardRoom the $125k saw its guarantee smashed again, with $143,400 up for grabs as 717 entries vied for glory.

With 81 places paid and four 5-figure payouts sitting up top, ProBrock ran deep and snatched the first of the big payouts, 4th place good for almost $11k.

When ChristinePoker fell in 3rd – a $14,483 cash – it left the tournament heads-up between LittleStitch and JonhLemon, with the latter prevailing to bag the $26,959 top prize, Christine adding $19,774 to some excellent recent results.

The $1050 buy-in, $200k GTD was a little quieter than usual, with 193 players seeing a little overlay for a change.

They were chasing a $43k first prize, and AmancioOrtega pocketed the first of six 5-figure payouts, a clean $10k. With ownadinho and freddy adu taking almost $30k between them, the money was getting serious indeed.

Dennis1998 took down 3rd place for $23,500 and when eltxupacrabazz saw off Justicepeanut heads-up, he had the trophy and $43,000 to celebrate, second spot worth $31,000.

partypoker’s Sunday highstakes grind has the biggest prizes of all, of course, and yesterday there was at least one player celebrating a $100k+ score.

The $5200 buy-in, $500k GTD Big Game saw 110 runners looking for a huge payday and included many of the site’s top regs, as well as a few new names.

Onehundredeyez is a known crusher, and yesterday pocketed more than $25k for a 6th-place finish, with Zeds_dead_baby next to hit the rail, good for $33,239.

Furikuri’s 4th place was followed by PayAndPlay, a player rarely far from the top spots on partypoker, and who bagged $63,921 for 3rd, and with more to come as we will see.

Heads-up saw Havenforbots defeat Sasha307, a $125,285 win, with second worth a very impressive $89,489.

The $1050 buy-in Sunday High Roller Masters just broke its $125k guarantee, with 127 entries and the likes of partypoker Team pro Anatoly 'NL_Profit' Filatov in the money.

That 10th spot was worth just over $3k, and Bill 'gastrader' Perkins took an extra $1k or so for 8th. El_Cucuy is always there or thereabouts on any given Sunday, and yesterday it was thereabouts – a 3rd place run worth $15,875.

It was a beautiful Sunday for PayAndPlay, though, who added a victory to his huge payday above, this one worth $31,115 after defeating ShortSqueeze heads-up for the Masters win.

That’s it for another Sunday roundup at the highstakes MTT tables, but we’ll be back next Monday with the best of the weekend action. Until then, good luck at the tables!
