Jungleman Scoops $135k With Big Game Victory

There were plenty of good showing by the big-name, highstakes crew yesterday, partypokers own Team pros well in the money, but pride of place goes to Daniel Junglemandan Cates, who took down the partypoker Big Game for a $135k score…

We’ll start our weekly round-up with that Jungleman victory, Cates appearing quite regularly in the MTT money recently, and yesterday battling his way to victory ahead of 119 others in the $5200 buy-in tournament.

By the time they were down to two tables and with a $10k+ score sewn up, the leaderboard was a who’s who of the online big boys and girls – Roberto 'R_Romanello' Romanello and Anatoly 'NL_Profit' Filatov flying the Red Diamond flag for partypoker.

Welsh Wizard Romanello would fall in 12th for a $13k payday, and it wouldn’t be his only cash of the day as we’ll see. Filatov, however, made it to the final table, and his eventual 6th place was worth $27,663.

CalmDownMan gets to the deep end of the big Sunday events more regularly than almost anyone else, and yesterday he had the pleasure of playing Junglemandan heads-up.

On the line was close to $¼million, a $40k difference between 1st and 2nd, and when Cates won out he had lifted $135,552, and the Big Game title for the second time following a $105k win in November last year.

For CalmDownMan it was a massive $96k in cash as consolation for the near-miss.

The $1050 High Roller Sunday Masters also attracted its fair share of the biggest buy-in MTT players, with Krissy 'Krissyb24' Bicknell joining Romanello in a final table run.

The Canadian pro, who has been the leading female player in the world both live and online for several years now, edged out her Team pro colleague Romanello in 5th to grab almost $10k in 4th spot.

Third place went to BigHoney, who may or may not be Chris 'BigHuni' Hunichen under a new guise, but the heads-up duo battling it out for a share of $47k were a pair of partypoker highstakes MTT crushers, Greenstone25 and kristian150.

This time the victory went to kristian150 and with it a $27,685 payout.

Over on Americas CardRoom, the guarantees were being smashed again and the popular $200k GTD had more than 50% extra in the prizepool when 307 entries appeared for the $1050 buy-in Sunday biggie.

Familiar names such as JusticPeanut, Harry Angel and NYCBanker all made it to the money, but the big question was whether or not xxMonsterxxDongxx could repeat his ACR success of last weekend.

It wasn’t to be for back-to-back bragging rights, although an eventual 3rd place and $34,691 was still an excellent showing, leaving FLYK1 and this is punny to fight for the win.

The latter took it down, a $62,781 cash one of the biggest of the day on the US-facing site, with 2nd place worth a very sweet $46,050.

The Sunday Special PLO also brought out the players, yesterday seeing 240 entries boost the prizepool well above the guarantee.

LappyPoker, aka Justin Taylor Lapka, produced another top 10 finish to add to his recent fine runs and showing he knows the 4-card game as well.

The $10,320 top prize, however, was won by ShreemBrzee33, edging out SextoSenso11 for the title, with HarryPottersTaint in 3rd …

That’s it for another Sunday Grind recap, but check in again next Monday for our pick of the biggest and best wins from the leading online pokerrooms!
