Alex Foxen wins L.A. Poker Classic $25k High Roller for $237,452

New York highstakes crusher Alex Foxen added another notch to his belt yesterday by taking down the $25k High Roller at the LA Poker Classic, a victory worth $237,452 to go with the Remington trophy…

By: Andrew Burnett

It was third $25k on the six-week, 68-event schedule at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, Foxen also bagging a runner-up payout of $134,970 behind winner Byron Kaverman in the first showdown, with Jake Daniels lifting the second for $281,390.

The third in the series saw 20 entries, with the likes of Chance Kornuth, Ali Imsirovic, Sam Soverel and Jake Schindler chasing three paid spots.

Imsirovic would be the unfortunate bubble-boy, leaving the remaining trio with at least an $85k return, and it was Jeremy Ausmus who took that first payout when he ran his short stack into Foxen

Ausmus: A♦ 4♠
Foxen: J♥ 10♠
Board: J♠ 3♦ 3♥ 3♣ K♠

That gave Foxen a 2:1 chip lead over Jake Schindler, who also found himself fighting the increasing blinds and antes. He soon took a stand, but again Foxen produced a hand…

Schindler: A♥ 2♣
Foxen: A♣ Q♥
Board: K♣ 8♠ 4♦ 7s A♦

That meant a $151,970 runner-up cheque for Schindler and a 4th six-figure payday of 2020 for Foxen, the $237,452 top prize taking his career tournament earnings over $16.5million.

Foxen’s latest win comes just a day after his partner, Canadian partypoker Team pro Kristen Bicknell, scooped the $2140 buy-in, 6-max event at the LAPC, a win worth $71,970.

1 Alex Foxen $237,452
2 Jacob Schindler $151,970
3 Jeremy Ausmus $85,483
