Daria Krashennikova Crashes the Irish Open Party with Ladies Event Win

The Irish Open is in full swing on partypoker right now, with all eyes on the Main Event just started, but before that we saw Russian Daria Krashennikova taking down the Ladies event after defeating partypoker pro Kristen Bicknell heads-up for the title.

The €25,000 guaranteed online event saw 82 entries, each paying the €215 buy-in and playing under real names – something the majority seem to prefer after a Twitter poll run by Rob Yong earlier this week…

That ensured there would be no reprise of the DQ handed out by PokerStars earlier this month to their International Women’s Day Platinum Pass winner – believed to be a male passing themselves off as a female to land the $30k top prize.

Among the runners yesterday were Sosia Jiang, the New Zealand pro who was the only female entrant to last year’s £1million Triton Million tournament in London.

With eight players paid in the Irish Open Ladies event, Jiang comfortably made the money, adding €3250 to the €18,381 she pocketed for winning the €50k GTD Hendon Mob Championship earlier this week.

Her exit in 3rd left Canada’s famous partypoker pro Kristen Bicknell to fight it out with Daria Krashennikova, the latter having a fair bit of poker previous, but dwarfed by Bicknell’s $5million+ in live earnings.

That didn’t deter the Russian woman, however, and she took down an admirable victory to seal the €6,625 top prize and the Irish Open Ladies trophy.

Final results

1 Daria Krashennikova €6,625
2 Kristen Bicknell €4,625
3 Sosia Jiang €3,250
4 Kimberley Kilroy €2,250
5 Kelly Ann Saxby €1,750
6 Elizabeth Bennett €1,312
7 Karen Muir €1,062
8 Mirjam Tewes €875

The €1million guarantee for the Main Event, currently kicking off day 1C, has already been smashed in the opening two flights, with 831 and 793 entries respectively making the prizepool €1,624,000 – with two more flights yet to come.
