onehundredeyez wins Big Game as Sunday Grind Powers On

Last Sunday was one of the busiest Sundays online poker has seen in a long time with players spoiled for choice – partypokers Powerfest, ACRs High Five series, the Poker Masters and Irish Open online as well as GG and PokerStars running huge series.

We’ll take a selection from all of these, starting with the $1million GTD Powerfest Big Game final, which saw 259 entries at $5200 each, making a prizepool of $1,211, 470.

There was close to $¼million up top and partypoker pro Dzmitry_Urbanov gave it a good shot, ultimately falling short with a 10th place bustout, still good for almost $19k.

Kanchenjunga grabbed the first of the three six-figure cashes up for grabs, a 3rd place paying out $122,358, leaving Discipline13 and onehundredeyez to battle for the title.

There are few who would bet against onehundredeyez when he runs deep and so it proved when he toppled his foe to bag the $241,082 winner’s payout, with $174,451 going to the runner-up.

The POWERFEST PLO 6-max couldn’t quite match those numbers, and the 49 entries paying $5200 each was one of the few tournaments with an overlay.

With the top 6 being paid, it was MUNJOSHuHa who emerged from the pack to lift the title and a lovely round $100,000 top prize, defeating DONKEY6666 heads-up for the win.

We’ll be covering the opening day of the Poker Masters on partypoker elsewhere, so let’s skip on to ACR’s High Five Series, always a popular event on the online calendar.

Event 27 on the schedule was the $100k GTD with a lowly $16.50 buy-in and it topped out at over 10,000 entries, adding $55k to the prizefund.

The boom of the last few weeks has seen a host of new names popping up on leaderboards, but the winner is a long-time ACR reg, jsmith84 pocketing the $14,819 win…

The ever-popular highstakes $200k GTD took place as well, and this one more than doubled its guarantee, with 407 entries at $1050 apiece making it $407k in the prizepool.

One name that jumped out as the tournament reached its finale was KITTY_KUO, the Taiwanese pro having just started a 100k hands cash game challenge. Yesterday’s MTT might not count, but her 14th place and $4,477 payout was still a good run.

Heads-up for the win saw Maddona and sloppydrnkpshngbttns fighting it out, the former landing the top prize of $78,103 with $56,977 going to the runner-up.

There was also plenty going on over at PokerStars, although their Sunday Million won’t be finished until late tonight (Monday).

That left some of the slightly smaller events on centre stage when it came to winners, and the $109 Bounty Builder was among them, with huiiiiiiiiii topping a field of 5,573 entries to take $33,344 from the regular prizepool and a Bounty payment of $18,608.

1 huiiiiiiiiii $33,344.18 + $ 18,608.86
2 Zhakinec09 $33,340.11 + $3,160.31
3 Petr0star $18,502.75 + $4,874.61
4 persh600 $12,646.19 + $4,859.98
5 molswi47 $8,643.36 + $331.25
6 Sajanas171 $5,907.54 + $2,632.22

The $215 buy-in Sunday WarmUp saw a similar level of cashing, with sebasnato defeating Kakiers04 heads-up for the win worth $39,094, the runner-up taking $28,370 for a fine challenge.

We’ll be back next Monday with our round-up of the best of the Sunday grind, so watch this space. In the meantime, good luck at the tables!
