Danish Online Gambling Regulators Ban Sixteen More Sites

Denmarks gambling regulators have continued their crackdown against online gambling sites illegally offering online service to Danish punters this week by announcing the court-approved blacklisting of 16 such illicit sites. The Spillemyndigheden (Danish Gambling Authority) received approval to order the blocking of the sites, with Danish internet service providers now charged with enforcing the blacklist orders.

The 16 sites include an assortment of sportsbetting, online casino, and gaming “skin” offerings. A 17th site was also identified as being in violation of Denmark’s online gambling rules but voluntarily withdrew its services before the latest blacklist order was approved. About 90 such violating sites have been blacklisted by Danish regulators over the past couple of years.

The latest sites to be blocked include 14red.com, Casino-napoli.com, ph.casino, cozyno.com, lordofthespins.com, magikslots.com, timessquarecasino.com, Danlotto.com, 22bet.com, csgoempire.gg, csgospeed.com, csgo-roulette.net, datdrop.com, hellcase.com, Skinhub.com, and rustbetting.com.

No fines were announced as part of this latest sweep. The Spillemyndigheden crackdown efforts date back to 2012, when the country undertook major revisions of its online gambling laws. Numerous online poker, sportsbetting, and online casino sites have been hit with fines or blacklisting for specifically targeting Danish players. Most of the punished sites have been found to either offer Danish-language support, utilize elements of Denmark’s national banking framework, or to offer games and promotions targeting Danish social themes.

“We work to protect players against illegal gambling, and we also need to ensure that the operators who are licenced to offer gambling in Denmark can run their businesses under orderly conditions,” said Spillemyndigheden’s director, Morten Niels Jakobsen. “That is why it is very important for us to clamp down on gambling offered without a licence.”
